WHY DO I BOTHER?

WHY DO I BOTHER?

No matter what I do
No matter how I try
It always ends the same
I give a great big sigh.

..... sad .....

Is it worth the effort?
I often ask myself
The one to answer it
Is of course one`s self.

..... so sad .....

Then why do I bother
If it has no impact
No reaction either
And that is the sad fact.

..... ever so sad .....

I do it so to please
But this is not the case
Maybe my attempts are
A little out of place.

..... sad .....

There is no reaction
No gratitude at all
My efforts are wasted
It makes me want to bawl.

..... so sad .....

First I am on a high
As I present my work
It`s met so non-chalant
That I feel like a jerk.

..... ever so sad .....

Then my spirits are low
Seems I`ve wasted my time
But I`ll get back on track
Though it may take some time.

. . . . . sad...sad...sad...sad...sad . . . . .

But why do I bother
Am I too blind to see?
That they couldn`t care less
About little old me.
