Blossoms

I thought that I knew you
But I didn't look deep enough.
There was something wonderful
Waiting for the right moment;
Just a heart touch was all that was needed
To make you blossom like Springtime.
You know we never really know someone
Until we learn to love as we should do-
And if we did how could we harm anyone
How could we kill for no reason at all?
There are time when I see in someones eyes
Myself reflected as in a pool of light
And then for a while everything is OK
All seems to move towards the Good.
Yet sometimes I feel so frustrated
For I cannot feel deeply enough
To take away this Ancient Longing
To be part of everything that IS.
I hope that when we are gone
Someone, somewhere will feel the glow
That I felt when I was with you-
Whether in the waving of the trees
Or the silence of the tranquil hills
Or in the city's rush hour madness
Or in reflective night time reveries.
And I hope they will learn to smile
And grow tender like the Blossoms
That give themselves freely to the wind
When the time for leaving comes along.
