Mirrors

The morning was soaked in quietness
Through the mirror I saw many things-
The golden meadow touched by early sunlight
The lonely ones walking along moonlit paths,
I saw so many things that must remain unspoken
And I wondered how my heart had survived.
So many dreams reflected in the looking glass
So many smiles hidden in the half-light
The words "I love you" somehow lost
In the mists that fall over winter fields.
Windy days with not a soul in sight
Just the endless moors and grey skies.
In the mirror someone dances for me,
For a moment the day sparkles silver
For a second I am held in silent rapture;
But the mirage fades away too quickly
The rain clouds have gathered so fast
And I gaze through rain soaked windows
Out across the sombre, empty fields
Barren without your love for me.
