Words of Life, Love and Praise

Fades into Blackness

Where are those days of joy and light
we shared when this love was new,
have you forgotten your vow professed-
that our days of love would never cease?
Your tone now laced with fury
and must you always have comment or argue or complain?
I so weary of your temperament.
You say your love for me is yet in bloom
but this heart knows not the fragrance.
Need I now become immune to loves joy
as it rips free of my flesh each day?
Must it always be about you-
your wants, your needs...where is the "We"
in this your self centered focus?
I sicken of what our life has become.
I miss the simple joys we used to know
when our world beheld crimson and yellow.
So, I now seek solace in words
for they do not fail me.
They revel at the stroke of my plume-
allowing sparks to fly at will
as once did my love for you...
yet that love has become stained,
Stained, bruised and broken.
I know not how to mend what now lay shattered...
The last flicker a mere trail of gray
as it smothers under your torment.
Yes, it is sorrow that I feel-
as this love I used to know
now fades into blackness.
