Handprint on the Sun by wings2fly

Anna, you asked for me to post a love poem, so here's one I wrote in June, 2009.
This poem is based on an actual event...... : )

HANDPRINT ON THE SUN
6/15/2009

Driving a stretch of highway
Cruise control at seventy-five
On a Sunday afternoon
Carefree emotions hence alive

Times like this I cherish
When I set my wishes free
The sunroof became my window
To a reality I yearned to see

I didn't need depth or intellect
Never mind on days like this
The wind's carried my thoughts
To ‘the one' in which I miss

My forefinger touched the breeze
Writing cursive into the sky
Composing letters of his name
That became my fashioned high

Sunrays shined a spell on me
I extended my hand on through
The window to touch fantasy
Bonding with the name I drew

Just me and speeding dreams
Cruising reverie with ‘the one'
For him I marked my heaven
Left my handprint on the sun
