A Metaphysical Conceit (wings2fly2heaven Jan 21 2010)
In literary terms, a conceit is a figure of speech, or metaphor that governs a poem.
A METAPHYSICAL CONCEIT
An Introduction
Unconventional imagery
In spiritual connection be
The very true essence
Of metaphysical poetry
Intelligible compositions
Dressing in plain sight
Yielding veiled messages
That soar in lucid light
Crafted ideals challenge
Keen awareness provoke
Apropos for decrees
Emotional cries evoke
In such poetic form
There is no boundary
Visions can be harnessed
With each possibility
Chasing dreams I see
Expressing sense sublime
Come interfused deeply
When untouchable thoughts entwine
Allegorical layers
Bent on finding fame
Such abstraction bears
This uncommon name
Emblematic these illustrate
Words bring newfound pleasure
With hovering wings I fly
Then swoop down to pluck a treasure
Challenging the mind
Here claims the worth repeat
Provocation for mind's eye
In this metaphysical conceit
