Hey You,swimming in my moat!
don't you know this is private property?
What do you think this is--a fancy theme park
or something like that?
No, this is my life I've worked on for so many years--
it's not just for anyone to come along and take
advantage of my diligent efforts!
Don't let the castle fool you,'tis mainly a facade--
a superficial structure to help me distance myself
from others who might intrude or who might subject me
to insult or to ridicule,it is also a bulwark
to my own self-esteem which may suffer more than is apparent
and sometime pales into disturbing insignificance.
Now if you had let me know
you wanted to somewhat share
in the outcroppings of my life,
I might have let down the drawbridge--
(for superficial acquaintances
it makes an excellent diving platform!)
For those who only want
to frolic in my shallow depths,
not really wanting to know me
in a rock and mortar kind of way--
I do allow for some peripheral pleasures
which afford slight amusement
all around but which leaves my solid fortress
undisturbed and undefiled.
But my palace court is reserved for special courtesans
of my own choosing--those in whom I delight and trust
and who bring to me an inward treasure of their own
which helps to enrich me in vicarious ways
without vacating my castle thus broadening my own estate.
Hey you--swimming in my moat!

I'll just watch you here from my cozy parapet
as I pass my time in regal retreat and splendor.
