Long ago, in the bloom of my youth
I found the world wanting and uncouth.
He visited me, one August day
And invited me to escape and pray.
Escape I did. I left the world
and searched for Truth,
even though most thought me absurd.
One day, through the blur of tears
I was prompted to buy a Bible,
the kind where Jesus' words
are printed in red.
And so I did.
And I read, and read, and read.
And, in so doing, it was as if
the cells of my entire body
began to shift.
Slowly, but surely I became
a new creature.
Some call this 'born again'
And maybe this is true.
What did happen for sure
Is the world, as I knew it,
lost its allure.
I discovered, for the first time in my life
that I was His child, and He loved me.
So, without hesitation, I took to heart
the admonition:
But seek ye first the kingdom of God,
and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.
That was over 30 years ago.
I am here to report that God's promise is true.
Life will still challenges present,
And we still fall, and have to repent;
However, His love washes away
all the invitations to resent.
In time, after practicing God's will
life becomes a wonderful thrill.
Nothing can replace the joy
of knowing for sure,
with His help,
there is nothing
that can't be endured.
I know, beyond the shadow of a doubt,
That I will live with Him again,
this time for Eternity.
We are all Children of God.
He wants us to find our way home,
to pass this earthly test,
and, with His help,
become our human best.
Most easily achieved when done
with love and the companionship
of another who understands.
For no love can be more fulfilling
than one promising Eternal bliss,
where death does not part
the melding of two committed hearts.
With this Eternal perspective,
Love's depth cannot be stayed.
Only on this stage,
can ecstasy be portrayed.

The above isn't so much poetry as it is a journal entry that may rhyme.
It is interesting how differently a writing can affect readers.
Here are the two "Feed backs" I received:
From anonymous: Rating: Bad
Too bad that when He visited you he didn't teach you how to write real poetry.
this is the work of a juvenile.
waste of time to read.
find another hobby.
And from enorthover:
Rating: Excellent
This is beautiful.
A positive read and a verification of what we should all be striving towards.
I have seeked and I have found also.
