A DAUGHTERS LOVE

I FEEL SO LUCKY TO HAVE HAD A WONDERFUL FATHER.
SO WILLING TO HEAR WHAT YOU HAD TO SAY.
TO HEAR YOUR SIDE OF THE STORY
AND HELP BRUSH YOUR FEARS AWAY

HE ALWAYS WAS PATIENT AND UNDERSTANDING
HIS OWN LIFE WAS HARD FROM THE START.
HIS FATHER DRANK AND WAS MEAN TO THEM ALL
AND EVENTUALLY , BROKE EVERYONES HEART.

WHEN HE WAS TWELVE ,HIS LITTLE SISTER MAY,
GOT THE MEASLES AND SUDDENLY PASSED AWAY
SHE WAS ONLY FOUR, HIS MOM COULD TAKE NO MORE,
GOT A DIVORCE AND TRIED TO GO ON FROM THAT DAY...

THE WAY WAS ROUGH,NO HELP FROM THEIR DAD.
GRAM COOKED AT A NEARBY HOTEL
TO KEEP THEM FROM STARVING
SHE'D BRING LEFTOVERS FROM HER JOB AS WELL

MY DAD ONLY PASSED FROM THE FORTH GRADE.
IN ORDER TO HELP HIS MOTHER AND YOUNG BROTHER.
HE WORKED IN A SWEATSHOP ALONG SIDE THE MEN
TO MAKE MONEY ,ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

A COUPLE YOUNGER MEN SAW HE WANTED TO LEARN
SO THEY TOOK HIM UNDER THEIR WING
AND TAUGHT HIM MATH AND SPELLING
AND READING WAS ALWAYS HIS THING

THEY FINALLY MOVED UP TO DETROIT,
BECAUSE THERE WAS MORE WORK UP HERE
AT SEVENTEEN HE WORKED IN A SHOP,
STARTED MAKING A CAREER

AS TIME WENT BY  HE BECAME A BOSS
HIS EXPERIENCE AND CONFIDENCE GREW
THAT'S WHEN HE MET MY MOM
BECAUSE SHE WORKED THERE TOO

HIS MOM WAS RUNNING A ROOMING HOUSE
HIS BROTHER WAS LEARNING A TRADE
SO MY MOM AND DAD TIED THE KNOT
AND FINALLY HAD IT MADE.

MY GRANDMA FINALLY MET A WONDERFUL MAN
AND ENDED UP MARRYING TOO.
HE WAS QUIET AND LOVING AND TOOK TO US ALL
HE WAS THE ONLY GRANDPA I EVER KNEW

SO I THINK, ALL THE PEOPLE MY DAD EVER MET
HELPED TO SHAPE THE MAN HE BECAME
A SUPERVISOR FOR A COMPANY WHO FLEW HIM AROUND
THE U.S.A. AND ALWAYS HONORED HIS NAME
