I've Been Awake All Night...

I've sat awake all night, can't get any peace,
Praying for Marie, to get some pain release!
When I see her like this, her body wracked in pain,
I start asking God to help, as I pray over and again...
I just want her to have less pain so she can get through-
Every day of her life, as I believe she should do.
Now I know things that happen are a test from above,
But this is the hardest I've seen - I'm overwhelmed with love.

For my heart it hurts as much as the sea rages,
I've watched her go from some pain, into bigger stages!
It began when she was little, just 7 years old girl,
Her spine was really painting, and here my tale will unfurl...
I want you all to know, that instinct from a mother-
-Is usually right, instinct is there like no other!
And my instinct was strong, but no-one would listen,
And when she was in agony, tears would glisten!

For what could I do when they said it was ok!
Yet they didn't see her in pain every single day!
So I fought the fight for my daughter who I love!
And always asked for help from God above!
Then one day they seemed to listen to me!
Cos I was getting upset and a little angry you see!
So they did a load of tests, and told me back then-
It was arthritis of the tissues, but I was fobbed off again!

There is no such thing as this terminology they use,
Once again I felt betrayed, but I wasn't going to lose!
This is my daughter, so I fought the fight hard and long!
But what can we do, when we are told we are wrong?
Growing pains it was, they told me one time!
But I disagreed, saying she wasn't at all fine!
So on through the years, I tried in vain,
To get them to find it, and sort out her pain!!

Then at 23 years old, she went to the doctor!
And demanded referral, she was angry real proper!
So he told her he didn't think it was needed,
But one look at her face, and his words he heeded!
She got an appointment, went to see a specialist,
He gave her a diagnosis, and oh, what a list!!
He told her that her life would be very grim!
There was nothing they could do, we couldn't win.

And sadly his words came oh, so true...
She has these syndromes and nothing they can do!
His words rang in our ears, as she progressed,
On a downward slide, and oh, what a test!
I think God must have looked down, saw her there,
Thought He'd give her a test, cos He knew she'd care!
She wont turn away from God, thank God for this!
Because her life of pain is no hit and miss!

For her pain all these years has never gone,
Pain all the time, and a life of no fun!
When she was in her wheelchair, next to me,
I looked at her and what a sad sight to see.
She quietly said to me; ‘mum, he was right!'
‘I never believed him, I can't believe my plight!'
So I looked to my daughter as I sat in my chair,
As we were pushed by our husbands, oh it's so unfair!

I told her I knew that this man was correct,
Because nothing he said was at all circumspect!
He knew what he was saying; he's the one, who knows,
And all these years later, it's come true I suppose!
Only he never told us of the other problems; that's true!
But I guess he didn't know, cos he's human too!
So now we take it day by day, one at a time,
It's all we can do, for this daughter of mine.

And pray to God and ask Him who reigns above,
To give her the strength and bless her with love!

...Because there is nothing more they can do...
