my melodic sentences must harmonize
into one polyphonic SOUND,
while simultaneously listening to a symphony
of a thousand raindrops falling DOWN.
a humble poet will continue to reach deep
into fertile GROUND
to give new life to every word,
adjective, verb and PRONOUN.
poetry in the key of RHYME
is transmitting messages which are subliminal
to awaken the true believer's
subconscious state of MIND.
a humble poet will then maintain
rhythmic balance by
synchronizing the next LINE,
causing the reader to think twice about polluting
their lungs with cigarette smoke
or filling their cups with beer and WINE.
since righteous living is not taught in schools,
true believers can now say that they've heard it
through the GRAPEVINE.
when one wrongdoer changes his ways and no longer
wishes to cheat, KILL, rape or STEAL...
prehistoric secrets will begin to be REVEALED.
and until the masses can become consciously AWARE,
a humble poet must handle each and every poem
with the kind of CARE
a two year old boy gives to his teddy BEAR.
the fact that millions of
hungry women and children exist
just isn't FAIR!
poetry in the key of rhyme is properly written
and carefully PREPARED
so that the weak and the forgotten,
the meek and the downtrodden
will have no reason to ever be SCARED.
