"The Shadow"
A shadow forms upon the wall
A menace black and very tall
It moves with stealth and rapid speed
As if upon the night to feed
It slips away in black ink night
And causes us to shake in fright
It peeks in holes and under mats
It flows along the curves and flats
It waits with patience in the dark
And bides its time to find its mark
And when it comes without suspect
Its mighty frame it does project
A terror black and oh, so grim
To scare the wits from its victim
Then slinks away into the night
Before the dawn breaks into light
And as the morning shines on in
I find the shadow was the bin.
