I live in a world so smartly advanced.
A chip so minute, my life is enhanced.
Press buttons and switches for all that I need,
Sit back and enjoy the simple, with greed.
The news blasts out crime in stereo,
Ascertain I hear this trouble and woe,
Its story so sad, the horror and pain,
Instilled in my mind, these nightmares remain.
I cannot escape from this deafening pace,
I constantly search for a quiet small space,
Where I might find the peace I crave,
So that my sanity, I might save.
It isn't much for which I ask,
A piece of heaven in which I may bask.
Allowing the senses to follow through
In a world, where each minute, there's something new.
So I must indulge, there is no escape,
A life of disharmony, a feeling of rape.
And in my dreams I'll press buttons and say,
Maybe tomorrow it will all go away.
