 Thoughts on Snow
Falling lightly, floating onto the drab winter's landscape;
Lightly caressing the surface of this earth with brilliant white.
Awe overcomes my heart, returning to my childhood dreams;
Rushing to the window upon waking, smiling at this sight.
The dull colors of browns and grays are overcome with glory;
Silvery white, the sun shining on this crystal showcase.
My heart leaps, desiring to run out and play in the snow;
Still floating down are even more flakes, delighting my face.
Clean, pure, washing away the melancholy of the winter's blues;
Creating within a flame of creativity, of beauty, and of hope.
No longer do I look the same at my problems or my trials;
As the snow has given me the tools necessary to cope.
Too many souls forget the glory of nature's gift of snow;
Plowing pathways enabling them to trudge along their way.
Many see this as just another annoyance thrown at them;
While I go into my shed out back to pull out my old sleigh.
