Meager was served upon a plate
Less was more of little faith
In home where curtains drawn would bring
Light to darkness, sweet offering
The knock on door was heard faintly
As if to say open it gently
For on this night a stranger came
Changing for life what good ordained
A simple man stood before me
No fancy clothes, no jewelry
Ask I would what do you seek
He said somewhere to rest my feet
Invite I would with some suspicion
Offered to share little nutrition
Half loaf of bread. some wine to quench
Some fish in herb, a seat more bench
He sat and told me many stories
Of one who came shedding his glory
Upon mankind most would reject
A perfect man for imperfect
He gazed at me as I looked on
While feeding on till all was gone
Asking before he took his leave
Did I hear all? Did I believe?
I looked real deep into his eyes
As my heart raced and eyes mine cried
Before stranger who knocked on door
Stood the same man he'd spoken for
I brushed his sleeve from arms and hands
Where there we saw what nails had damned
The hands of CHRIST outstretched for me
To save one more in desperate need
He then bowed down and washed my feet
Unlaced sandals upon his feet
That bared the sign of nailed pierced through
Upon two feet for mankind too
He said take these once mine now yours
To walk the Earth for I endured
Inequities, transgressions great
Greater today mans just due fate
And so today we write for Him
Who came and died, for man bore sin
Who knocked and stood behind the door
Answered by us who now implores
You who read, maybe this one
You forgiven, by Him The Son
Break bread and know today someone
Who gave their all in fight yours won
