A Helping Hand...

Under the concrete, cold and dark,
No food or water to hand,
For the earthquake hit hard and fast,
And devastation shook throughout the land.

Under the rubble many people were trapped,
Crying out for help and in pain!
Hoping someone would hear them,
So they shouted over and again!

Some were heard but only just,
For a faint whisper for help could be heard,
Hoping against hope that they would get out,
And praying that they would be spared?!

So the people are still digging,
And carefully removing all the stone,
Hoping to find anyone they could,
So they listen for the slightest moan.

But they have to work really carefully,
And when they hear that moan,
They take it very slowly...
And remove the rubble stone by stone!

Then the one that was trapped is free!
Such relief to be out of that place,
Glad to be out in the open again,
No longer staring death in the face!

And still they dig and remove the rubble,
Hoping to find more people alive...
But for those that they did find and save,
It is brilliant to hear that those did survive!!
