I Opened My Eyes
I opened my eyes,
feeling lethargic and numb,
unable to forget what that beast has done.
The world is waiting,
but I never arrive,
still in pyjamas; hair hitched up,
I stay inside.
Hearing cars pass by, and signs of life outside,
they are at a safe distance, as I breathe a sigh.
The strength to get up and inflate my lungs,
is about all I can manage today.
As if on auto-pilot,
in a surelle world,
the life I once knew has gone!
Trapped in a shell of this body I own,
a body my emotions are quick to disown.
Existing inside these flesh & bones
are faint cries of my spirit and its torturous groans.
