 Pages Of A Woman's Soul

Endlessly pursuing,
elusive and rare,
it remains just beyond
my reach.

Catching an ephemeral wisp
in someone I encounter,
it flits through my
instinctual memory,
my heart leaping
in acclamation.

Yet, chasing the ghost
of something exquisite
I've only felt in dreams,
it ever escapes my grasp;
illusory it evaporates...

Then, just as I persuade
myself to abandon
this barren quest,
a glimmer, small and bright,
appears at the edge of my world...

...and anticipation entices me
toward the next horizon
with sanguine stead,
seeking the romance of
everlasting love.
