Sorry...
All lovely and neat -
check listed and sweet -
they sit on the pews
and hear the good news...
To say sorry to god -
they don't think twice -
just close their eyes
and it really feels nice...
The man on the stage
flips over a page -
reads from the book
with a sanctified look...
To say sorry to god -
they don't think twice -
just close their eyes
and it really feels nice...
The people all nod -
say sorry to god -
feel the warm glow
and join in the show...
To say sorry to god -
they don't think twice -
just close their eyes
and it really feels nice...
Outside stands a boy -
longing for joy -
abused by the man
high up on the stand...
To say sorry to god -
they don't think twice -
just close their eyes
and it really feels nice...
The crying was strong -
the whipping was wrong -
heartless and cruel
with a smirk and a drool...
To say sorry to god -
they don't think twice -
just close their eyes
and it really feels nice...
So the boy walks away
on that sad sabbath day -
with a tear in his eye
and a question - oh why...
To say sorry to god -
they don't think twice -
just close their eyes
and it really feels nice...
