Liz's Poems

Emotions

She lays in bed.
She ponders why her.
She doesn't want to be around anymore.

She feels she has no friends.
She feels like her family is falling apart.
She doesn't understand why these things are happening.

Her dad is in prison.
Her mom and her don't talk.
Her brother is probably going to Iraq.

She looks at the ceiling
With tears falling down her face.
She clings onto her teddy bear.

She doesn't like when no one
Cares about her feelings and heart.
She just holds onto the remains of her life.

She feels like she is in darkness.
She can't smile or laugh
Because it hurts her too much.

She doesn't like going to school.
She doesn't like when she is in an empty house.
She doesn't like being in the darkness alone.

She can't talk to anyone because they don't understand.
She can't talk to her mom because she doesn't want to show her emotions.
She can't let her emotions show because she doesn't want to cry all the time.

She cries herself to sleep.
She tells herself it will be over soon.
She holds onto her past and wishes it never happen.

She tries to tell her teachers but they don't understand.
She doesn't want to say what happened because it's too painful.
She wishes her past would fade away into the darkness.

She saw her dad once since he has been gone.
She only can talk to him twice a week.
She can only write him and send him things.

People say she is depressed and she might be.
Some say she is suicidal and some days it's true.
Some say she should smile and be happy but she can't.

She tries to tell people about her dad but it is too much.
She tries not having her personal life
Interfere with school but she can't help it.

Every night tears fall down her cheeks.
Every night her heart fills with pain.
Every night it's hard to fall asleep.

She dreams her dad is home.
She dreams her family is happy.
She dreams that nothing happened.

Everyday when she wakes up reality seeps in.
Everyday she can't let it out.
Everyday she has to bottle up her feelings.

She wishes it never happened.
She wishes she was out of darkness once and for all.
She wishes she could just go to school and have fun.

Her life is like a puzzle,
Unfinished,
And pieces are missing.

She tries to put it back together
But there are too many missing.
And she can't start a new one.
