Peace I
Peace is not the absence of conflict;
But the absence of violence in conflict.
Not allowing warriors to run uncontested;
Standing in stillness, holding my ground.
Peace is not coming into agreement;
But the laying down of arms in conflict.
Not ever allowing the end to justify the means;
The dove stands unflinchingly on principal.
Many scoff and explain away Jesus' words;
"Love your enemy… turn the other cheek."
With a strength greater than the mightiest warrior;
"Doing unto others as we would have done to us."
The absence of peace is not war;
But this exists in the depths of indifference.
Just not caring, with a heart turned to stone;
Stand with me, my friend; stand for peace.
