What Do I Want?
The question that I am asking myself tonight
Is what do I want?
I mean, really, what do I want?
If Aladdin's Genie appeared before me
Saying, “Your wish is my command.”
What do I want?
My mind races to several fantasy scenario's;
Then my soul slams on the brakes.
My mind desires to edify my ego;
But my soul reaches deeper, seeking wisdom.
I pause, pondering the Genie's words.
Wish one: To be full and overflowing with peace;
Content with everyone, as well as myself.
Wish two: To be full and overflowing with joy;
Spontaneously interacting positively with life.
Wish three: To be full and overflowing with love;
My heart open, embracing every creature.
I now pause again, rehearsing my wishes;
Turning away from the impulses for riches,
For fame, for glory, for the playboy's life.
I see my destiny, my wishes are it's signpost;
What do I want? I can now smile.
