Poetic Verses

This Image

I imagined myself within those walls
not being shackled, yet confined secure,
in contentment without numerous halls
bound only to task and duty for sure
And few distractions, yet plenty to do,
to keep up the pace and nurture the mind
Venture of responsibility new
where activity and spirit do bind
Needed, this place to hold me in capture
for livelihood and security sought
Burden lifted would leave me in rapture
yet I have imagined this all for naught
To be in this place is not where I'm meant
for this image is distorted and bent
