Contempt of the Word

Rebellious and deceitful are we,
Being so blind that we cannot see;
As children and refusing to hear,
Of the end of time as it comes near.

We are resistant what we were taught,
From the blood of Christ as what it bought;
And all of the benefits it gives,
So each one everlastingly lives.

You say of the seers that will see things,
Do not look at what the future brings;
You would rather only see and hear,
The earthly things that you cherish dear.

You would not want to hear of the wrath,
And keep shouting not to block the path;
Heaven is not part of your delight,
And rather keep it out of your sight.

Since you have rejected the warnings,
For deep inside your sin have yearnings;
So will your sin be like a crack,
Along your spine that will break your back.

You can still be saved if you confess,
For then the Lord will be sure to bless;
Abide in His Word and do your best,
And He will ensure that you can rest.
