The Problem With Stone
In response to reminders
Of being left all alone,
It's so easy to develop
A heart made of stone.
Thinking this will protect
Us from anymore pain,
We encourage the sunshine...
We dismiss the rain.
But the rain is so needed
To help prepare the soil
So that planters can sow
Seeds to ease the turmoil.
The problem with stone is
When we stop to recall,
It doesn't feel love...
It feels nothing at all.
It blocks every memory
Love brings to its door...
A destroyer of dreams
With no hope in store.
Feels like self preservation
But self destruction's its goal.
It's a Satan set trap
Meant to shatter the soul.
Resurrection's lost meaning
In the wake of its breath.
It's like leaving the stone...
Making final the death.
Stone isn't God's covenant...
Stone isn't God's plan.
A heart made of flesh
Is His promise to man.
A heart yielded to love...
Is all set to receive
Each change of the season
With faith to believe
That we may emerge
From any sad situation,
With hope in our hearts
Because of His invitation
To take Him at His Word...
To make it our own...
So that we'll recognize
The problem with stone.
Lovingly Presented,

~~**Author's Note~~**
This poem is dedicated to
my niece, Shannon (whose
loses were many) and to the
friend who gave her the words
of wisdom which God used to
inspire this poem.
"Then I will give them one
heart, and I will put a new
spirit within them, and will
take out the stony heart out
of their flesh, and give them
a heart of flesh."
Ezekiel 11:19
"To everything there is a season,
a time for every purpose under
heaven:
A time to be born
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck
what is planted;
A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from
embracing;
A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
a time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silent,
And a time to speak;
A time to love.
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
