I am the starlight shining on the sea
Lonely waves are barely moving free
I look at my companion moon
and he's looking back at me
he's big round and glowing
Suddenly he tells me he's not going
to guard the dark night skies.
I tell him he's important to all of us little stars
because with out his glowing we can not be seen.
I am the starlight high in the sky
just waiting for the earth to turn
so the seas won't see me cry
moon did not come tonight
Flew off across the sky
All I can be is happy for him
as my wink went out on me.
I am the starlight no longer there
I also flew across the sky
I'm off to find that oie moon of mine
in a new section of the sky
where moon is happy to see me
Right there by his side
Fair-the-well old dark sky,
moon may come back someday
right now we are happy in our new part of the sky.
