A picture's worth a thousand words
Is what I've always heard.
So I've tried to picture Calvary
As recorded in God's Word.

I've asked myself the question,
Just what does Calvary say?
I needed to define this picture
Developed in my mind today.

I see a man, stripped of His clothes,
Hanging naked on a tree.
I can almost taste His sense of shame...
Almost feel His agony.

Ohh, His face is so distorted...
Recognition's at zero.
Someone kicked His face right in!
God, who could hate Him so!?

I tremble at the size of spikes
They used to hold Him there!
The picture makes me want to puke...
His blood is everywhere!

He sways a wee bit forward...
I presume to get a breath.
But...wait...He's saying something
About the ones who cause His death.

Dear God, He's asked forgiveness
For those who take His life!
What is this picture telling me?
It cuts me like a knife!

For it was my sin and yours
That nailed Him to that tree.
Such love as I had never seen
Was staring back at me!

I can't escape the guilt I feel...
I must repent and pray.
"I LOVE YOU" from a dying man...
That's what Calvary has to say.

Lovingly Presented,

~~**AUTHOR'S NOTE~~**
I remember well the first time
I realized the true meaning of
what God accomplished on Calvary.
I remember feeling sick in the
realization that it was MY sins
which sent Jesus to the cruel
Cross...that ALL He suffered was
for MY sake. When we make Calvary
personal, our spiritual eyes are
opened. Have you done this?
Won't you let the Lord open your
eyes today?
I'm praying for you....

"For He made Him who knew no
sin to be sin for us, that we
might become the righteousness
of God in Him."
2 Corinthians 5:21

"But God demonstrates His own
love toward us, in that while
we were still sinners, Christ
died for us."
Romans 5:8

"Behold now is the accepted
time, behold now is the day
of salvation."
2 Corinthians 6:2
