Lord of my HeartDo not shun me when I am old, Or desert me when I am gray; For as you know we have been told, God will be there if we obey. Even if we lose our might, And our foes talk about me; As long as we stay in His sight, God will be faithful to my plea. Even within the midst of strife, And my foes have a secret plan; They cannot try to take my life, Unless God has said that they can. Because the Lord will rescue me, And not allow my life to end; He promises consistency, Both as my God and as my friend. That is why I will praise Him more, Remaining the Lord of my heart; Since I already know for sure, That the Lord will never depart. So I will always have the hope, That the Lord will forsake me not; And I will continue to cope, Remembering what I was taught. Copyright © 2010 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
