 Season of Lent
Many people give up something for lent
It may be a bad habit they need to relent
If you can do without it for forty-seven days,
Why not continue to leave it behind always?

Old habits can be very difficult to break
But your health and life may be at stake
Whatever it is, you can do it if you just try
Ask a friend for help, on whom you can rely

Maybe you are so confused right now
And searching to find answers somehow
Nothing ever seems to go right in your life
You are constantly in turmoil and strife

Why did your parents have to get a divorce?
Then your son died while in the Air Force
How did your sweet daughter end up in jail?
Where did you go wrong or how did you fail?

These are real tragedies that happen every day
But, my friend, I have great hope for you today
No, I cannot take away all of your hurt and pain
Or bring back your lost loved one to you again

But there is Someone who will always care
Lent is to reflect on the suffering He did bare
He loves you no matter what you have done
His name is Jesus, God's one and only Son

He sacrificed His life for you on Calvary's tree
And paid the price for your sin to set you free
Just believe with simple faith and call on His name
Your life will have new hope and never be the same

1 John 5:12 (NIV)
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have
the Son of God does not have life.
