Avoiding Sin
I can do anything,
But not to gain control;
For pleasure it may bring,
Just might corrupt my soul.
I could do anything,
But I think of my life;
For all the desiring,
Would start to cause me strife.
I could hear anything,
But sultry voices sound;
In enticing a fling,
Where Satan would impound.
I could see anything,
But pleasure of such sights;
Would be the deadly sting,
For the eternal nights.
I could speak anything,
But a slip of the tongue;
That corruption would cling,
Each time a word was flung.
I can avoid the sin,
All that I see and hear;
Keeping me pure within,
It is God I revere.
