Who Nailed Jesus to the Cross?

Did the people really have any say
When Jesus was sent to die on that day?
If Barabbas had not been set free
Would He still have died for you and me?

My friend, God had a definite plan all along
That Jesus would die to save us from all wrong
Our sin was the reason His blood was shed
But in three days, He would rise from the dead

But why all the torture and pain
To blot out sin's deep and dark stain?
Why did Jesus have to suffer a horrible death
And struggle in great agony for His last breath?

We had to realize the penalty and cost of our sin
Before we could know His cleansing power within
We deserved to die, but He took our place
Because of His infinite mercy and grace

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NASB)
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf,
so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
