 reflections

the sound of christmas

behind frosted glass
I saw naked flames
dance eloquently
like young lovers
across yellow and red cloth

I saw gold
fall from the tallest tree
flicker like tiny fires
scorched and scarred
like old wooden beams

I heard two lonely thoughts
cry out to one another
held together like old secrets
delicately folded
in ribbons and bows

~

behind frosted glass
I saw whole lives
dance eloquently
like tiny snow flakes
across fields of white

I saw silver
shining out of the smallest star
sparkle like glitter
scattered and shared
like loves hopes and dreams

I heard the sound of christmas
ring out like laughter
in every girl and boy
delicately folded
in the magic and wonder
and love from the heart

merry christmas with all my love
