I looked up to the Sun
Craving warmth and craving light
Cast away into the shadows, Sun not letting me in
Chased away by fiery breath burning my body and scarring my skin.
I held my hand out to the Moon
Comforted by the soft light on his round face
Moon turned half circle, leaving me lost in solitude and sadness
As I walk as one on this planet, a stranger in this human race.
I reached out to the Stars
Turning their backs and casting me from their sight
In unison they doused out the twinkling of their light
I left in the lonely blackness of this starless night.
I called out to the Dark
for his black cloak of comfort
But only came searing white light
Turning me blind, stealing my vision, stealing my sight.
I cried out to the Sea
But only silence was herd
As sand sealed up my lips
Saltwater dissolved all my words.
I turned to Mother Earth
But she reared herself up and laughed in my face
Leaving me disillusioned, dejected and angry
Four corners of this earth I must roam a man with no place.
I looked to myself
Lost, afraid, emotions out of control
Falling into my own arms, at last feeling whole
A heart to love, a head to dream, most of all home for my soul.
