Towered by the great and picturesque summits of the Himalayas
Traversed by the waters of the Ganges for all its years
These have been the two icons that are forever
Synonymous with the way of life in all India
Bordered by many unfriendly territories
Stagnated in earlier years by most of those colonial hypocrisies
Propelled by the determination of Mahatma Gandhi
Who peacefully lead his people to liberty
Time and again you are put to the test
Like religious insurgencies and terrorists unrest
Though some leaders too got assassinated
The resilience of your strong people was not daunted
A good and classic example of a Diaspora
This is a feature of most of India
So from New Delhi, Bombay, Bhopal to Chennai
The sign of religious diversity runs high.
Let's not forget to mention your unique culture
A display that is second to no other
Also those scenic landscapes and captivating architecture
Such as the Taj Mahal, this is such a splendor
Throughout the word your children can be found
Making such a significant contribution
Also in sports you produced many a star
Like Dev, Gavaskar and the evergreen Tendulkar.
All hail India !You bright and luminous oriental star
Your radiance beam so brightly from afar
Even in this dismal economic plight
The people's thrift and fortitude had made things right.
