I saw your obituary
Lying on the dusty jewelry box
It was mixed in
With some disheveled papers
I hesitated to pick it up
Once in my hands
I had to open and read it
Tears streamed down my face
Like a flowing river
I thought of you
Oh! how I thought of you
I saw you
You were there
All those kind loving words
Written about you
Pulled me down
Deep way down low
As I collapsed on the edge
Of my bed
I felt as though I was
Drowning in my own tears
For a brief moment
Yet, not too long
I was overcome with grief
It has been three years
Tears streamed down my face
Like a flowing river
It was like yesterday
You were here
I then collected myself
Stood up from the edge of my bed
Wiped away my tears
Alas, I smiled
Looking at the dusty jewelry box
I said,"be at peace"
Rest my dear brother
Like a precious jewel
I'll cherish you forever in my heart
