Poet vs. Thug

                               Thug vs. Poet
                                   6/16/02

Please stand for the honorable judge Bonafide
Presiding over this recidivistic case.  Thug vs. Poet

-you may be seated-

Allow me to open my statement of defense
Of an educated thug, a motherless child through
The paradox of sin he was breed, too wild,
exposed to the truth from an embryo too a hopeless youth,
composed to ignore the law, but prays to the Lord daily;
from house to house he was moved,
no stable foundation beneath his tormented feet,
no one to guide his undetermined steps;
learned to read and write,
the light which caused him to rise and take flight out of the thug life;
Over ruled rejection, found out how to provide his own protection;
streets gave him knowledge, and strength gave him power;
wisdom with held from the youthful hound with his nostrils to the ground,
hunting and longing for solid ground;
However located in the wrong place at the right time,
convicted of crimes consisting of robberies and homicides;
3 strikes minus one, now he's in court facing the double-barrel sawed off gun;
Freedom in one, slavery in the other;
Will violation of probation be the key to my client's incarceration?

                 Poet vs. Thug
                   06/16/02

If it pleases the court, permit me to defend my fort,
Born crying and kicking in a world of constant dying
Litigating for myself in pros and verse
Imposing poetic flows that consumes lost souls
Thugs convicted too poets barred from streets
Blowing gats and gages in eye witnesses faces
False testimonies purging our justice for verdicts of life destruction,
sentenced to double life without the opportunity of parole,
put on paper escaping our barred situation.
No plea bargain tolerated;
please allow me to approach the bench with evidence of my innocents;
Denied bail at my arraignment, over ruled all objections,
sustained every refrain, held in contempt for sins I forgot to repent,
left hand on bible right hand in the air,
judge maintain order while the jury delivers their verdict

Thug vs. Poet, me vs. me, call it what you want,
cause in actuality this is my soliloquy vs. my eulogy
