 Famine of Hearing

Was I asleep
Or awake…
When I made
The mistake?

Can't look back
Nor change the past
It happened so fast…
The damage is done
I've arrived at a place
Where there's
Nowhere to run.

Was I asleep
Or awake …
With the covenant
 I did break
Letting God's Word
Fall to the ground …
Now it is I
Who can hear no sound …

I let His Word fall …
Walked away from His call
And here I am
Filled with fear
Unable to hear .

I took my eyes off
That which was good and right
Walking away from His light
Which is now
Nowhere in sight.

Was I asleep
Or awake?
When I made
This grave mistake…

Perhaps I was
Never really
awake.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will
send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water,
but of hearing the words of the LORD:  Amos 8:11
