Email Poem | Today's Poetry

 Of Darkest Days

The morning Sun became obscured
This day would start with me impure
Of heart and soul yet breathe I do
As my day starts this day brand new

Rush the word that came to mind
As clock did tick and keys I'd find
Upon table where bible played
Gods song unsung or read today

Glanced I did a second time
To read the word, to help me find
Strength today that only Him
Could speak into my world of sin

But rushed was I who threw no caution
Into the wind that gave my portion
Of breath today and so we ran
Into my world not of His plan

My pace increased and thought the least
As pressed I did this war with peace
Inside of me that no one sees
Inside of me where God's not pleased

I seem to feel a presence dark
Followed my steps by car I parked
Calling my name as if it knew
My soul today withdrawn, untrue

Then before I turned the key
Inside my car, I looked to see
Once again but no one there
So off we drove without a care

My morning cup of Joe went cold
Just one more thing that would unfold
Upon this day, another day
Oh so I thought today would play

My car would stall on hill unknown
Stressing my day that started wrong
Like me before I left my home
Not making time now there alone

I walked this hill up to the top
Before my eyes was cross atop
Of this same hill where someone nailed
This man ignored on wood impaled

Closer I drew myself to see
Christ's face, displayed in front of me
Where spoke He did my name He knew
Saying this act was willed and done for you

I fell on knees before this man
On cross that bled for me so damned
Where speak He would with last breath drawn
Saying three words to right my wrongs

"It is finished" and then the skies
Became pitch black as are my lies
That heard the Truth spoken once more
Where cried I did as rain down poured

My life now changed upon this day
Spoken where words I heard now play
Inside my heart that came to know
What JESUS did to make it so

Today, His day where He redeemed
The world of sin that does not lean
Upon the son of man who gave
All that He was for granted taken
All that He is not praised but played
