Changed by Reality
My sabbatical nears an end, work looms on my horizon;
I will return as a warrior who has been changed by reality.
Life has met me with challenges these past five weeks;
Some were good events, some were bad; all were real.
Instead of picking and choosing which experience to like,
Instead of judging the reality that life presented to me;
I chose to embrace my life, now I'm changed by reality.
I will still look the same to the guys and gals at work.
Well, not quite, with the addition of a couple of tattoos,
And the piercing of my ears, I am slightly different looking.
But within the gates of my soul, within my heart of hearts;
I am not the same, as my destiny's course has been rerouted.
The flow is taking me still downstream, but everything is new;
Old banks of my life are now empty, not even a trickle of wetness.
The amazing truth that I discovered is that this is not unique;
For I have been always been changed by reality throughout my life.
