Words Were All I Had...
I remember a time
it seems forever ago
When words from the heart
would so easily flow
But the warmth and love
from a Starlit sky did fall
Now the deeper I dig
my muse is deaf to my call
A home once known
is now forever gone
Where heart words flowed
from dusk till dawn
The door was always open
for family to come and go
A place of joyful meetings
with no fear for heart words to show
Then came the dark cloud
replacing the constant loving lite
Where friend against friend
would become the daily fight
Vicious ugly words
spewed as from a serpents tongue
The beginning of the end
I knew had then begun
I never considered it possible
for the door to be slammed tight
Because of standing up
for what was believed to be right
Empty and broken promises
and lies that fell like rain
Leaving those who were left behind
so lost, homeless and in pain
New doors have been knocked upon
but its just not the same
A sense of belonging
well it just never came.
Where once stood in the Starlite
is now dark and cold
My friendship given
was so cheaply sold
I drift upon a sea
of words I can not find
Words were all I had
to present to mankind
Writing should not be
this difficult to do
To have to search and pull
the words I leave for you
They should flow free and easy
as the breeze on a summer day
To just open ones heart
let it speak what it has to say
But now I'm just left
to rummage around within this heart
To recapture that special place
where they flowed so free at the start.
I fear that place with in my heart
is now forever lost
The protection needed from the pain
that was just too great a cost
