The Vietnam Security Police Association has within its ranks a group of Wives, Sisters, Mothers,
Daughters, Aunts and Girl Friends. Who have supported our group of Veterans through the rough years
after our return from Vietnam and other Southeast Asia areas. It is with great thanks and honor to these
brave and proud Women that I dedicate this poem.
The Sisterhood
If we reach out our hand
Will someone lead us from the dark
Pull us back from that awful foreign land
Bring forth the light with a simple spark
So very many from that Vietnan war
The dark eats away at our life
Many drifting back more and more
Freedom from the past seems a unreachable height
Warm summer nights bathed in cold sweat
Cold winter nights burning inside
Haunted by memories we can not forget
Some lost in self pity with no pride
Seeking the unobtainable relief
Hoping for just one dreamless night
Shadows stealing life like a thief
Leaving us forlorn and full of fright
By light of day we can find some peace
Seeing friendly faces we feel safe
The touch of her hand causes the pain to cease
These wonderful women are all saints
Caring and standing watch over us all
Trying to understand what we withstood
Never letting us slip and fall
The great women of the VSPS Sisterhood
