* * * *The Cowboy Way* * * *©
Down in the valley
where the prairie grasses have played,
tossed by winds of nature
and stripped of any shade.
In the grand scheme of things
there sat a distant home,
rising from the dirt and sod
the land where horses roam.
Guarding this humble abode
a small cross of chiseled stone,
inside it lived a cowpoke
who appeared to be alone.
Women come and go round these parts
they never seem to stay,
taking bits and pieces with them
then they ride away.
I reckon the life of a cowboy
ain't easy by no means,
but he's got a protector there
and a trusty horse to help him live out his dreams!
