Our Shoes To FillCaitlin is my granddaughter she started writing poetry last year. I am very proud to add another of her poems to my site. The Old Cowboy poet Baby let's go cause I'm tired of waiting for the rain to come Let's go to a place that doesn't care where we came from Come on we are leaving this dusty old town behind Cause they are all running blind In this town they don't dig to deep They're all satisfied with their cows and sheep But us, well we've got bigger shoes to fill And we are not going to get them just standing still We'll put on our boots and we'll hop in our truck We've got four wheel drive so we'll never get stuck In their river of unfulfilled dreams I can almost hear their helpless scream They want to achieve but they don't know how I can tell you though it's not by milking a cow Leaving will be hard but it's for the best We want you to fulfill our last request Remember the girl with the duct tape on her boots For she will always remember her roots Remember the boy with the crooked little grin For he will always remember the family he grow up in So let's leave the tractors and fields in our past While we drive down that country road a little too fast Caitlin Avery Salyers April 15th 2010 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
