Blood Cries

Abel's sacrifice was honored by the Lord
From the first flocks, freely of his accord
Cain gave from the fruit of the ground
But a bloodless sacrifice it was found

Cain was so angry that his countenance fell
God asked the reason but knew it very well
Cain had already began to plot his revenge
A conscious evil plan that he would arrange

God told Cain he could master his own sin
If he chose to do the right thing from within
He warned Cain sin was crouching at the door
But God's wise counsel he decided to ignore

Cain talked to Abel and went out to the field
Then killed Abel, but no remorse did he feel
God asked him, where is Abel your brother?
Lying, I don't know, am I my brother's keeper?

God replied and asked, what have you done?
Abel's blood is crying to Me from the ground
There is Someone that he was accountable to
Nothing is hid from God in the things we do

God curses the ground and future labor there
Cain said my punishment is too much to bear
In his own self-pity, worried he would be killed
God said vengeance sevenfold would be instilled

God, in His mercy, protected Cain from harm
Anyone trying to kill him, would set an alarm
Vengeance always belongs in the hands of God
Yet we often forget that on the path we trod

Even if we do not go out and kill someone today
Part of Cain is still inside all of us along the way
Born in sin and until convicted by the Holy Spirit
We will try to run and hide, lie by even denying it

When we recognize our sin and that only Jesus can save
Placing our faith in Him alone by the life He freely gave
God will forgive all who believe through Jesus' blood
He became our sacrifice, taking our place He stood

There are lessons we can learn from the life of Cain
The following has eternal implications to be gained
I realize many are divided on the issue of abortion
The blood of all unborn cries to God in proportion

In Oklahoma, there currently exists a pending bill
Stating that before any abortion is performed at will
Each woman would be required to have an ultrasound
To view the living baby in their womb moving around

It is my heartfelt prayer as we approach Mother's Day
For all expecting mothers to respect life in every way
Then for all who are blessed with mothers still living
Thank them for choosing life at your birth freely giving

Based on Genesis 4:1-15 - Selected verses below

Genesis 4:3-5 (NASB)
3 So it came about in the course of time that Cain brought
an offering to the LORD of the fruit of the ground. 4 Abel,
on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and
of their fat portions And the LORD had regard for Abel and
for his offering; 5 but for Cain and for his offering He had
no regard So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell.

Genesis 4:10 (NASB)
He said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood
is crying to Me from the ground."

Deuteronomy 32:35 (NASB)
(God said) 'Vengeance is Mine, and retribution, In due time their
foot will slip; For the day of their calamity is near, And the
impending things are hastening upon them.'

Hebrews 11:4 (NASB)
By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain,
through which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous,
God testifying about his gifts, and through faith, though he
is dead, he still speaks.

1 John 3:11-12 (NASB)
11 For this is the message which you have heard from the
beginning, that we should love one another; 12 not as Cain,
who was of the evil one and slew his brother And for what
reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and
his brother's were righteous.

Hebrews 12:24 (NASB)
And to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the
sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.
