 Words Of Love

Cast On

I watched from the distance,

I only saw his shadow.

The Sun had long since set

A Brisk evening chill found us.

His community dock rocked gently, Soundlessly

against the motionless lake.

A full moon silhouetted his deep thoughts,

or so I assumed from the silent air.

Only the occasional casting of his fishing line

broke the night.

Midnight fishing for answers perhaps.

Only the lake, the night, the moon

understood the sad silence the man kept.

A retreat, a sanctuary of its own.

Throwing life's tough crumbs back into the water.

Hopefully, patiently, reeling in hope.

His only chance at survival- a way to throw the stress away.

I sit here and write tonight.

Because the man had a point.

Don't stop what you love,

just because the world moves too fast.

Don't let life take away your joy,

just because it's dark outside.

Just as the man grasps his pole,

and throws cast after cast.

Even though the night is Dark and the fish lay at rest.
