Poetic Verses

Once My Best Friend

It was in gym class
when we first talked,
you ran the circle
while I just walked.

We became friends
or was it a game?
you said bad about me
and placed false blame.

Friends for several years
but was it ever true?
Your lies were beyond
anything I ever knew.

We endured fights
that made us both cry,
forgiveness wasn't true
and I don't know why.

A real friend doesn't
punch and pull hair,
when a fight is started
from the lies out there.

There comes a time
when everything ends,
after all the gossip
we were ailing friends.

Sick with the anger
a letter came through,
"I don't want anything
to do with you."

Our friendship was dying
from the inner pains,
tears fell from eyes
like pouring spring rains.

We were once best friends
but fighting left a mark,
how could we save
what was lost in the dark?

No longer my best friend
although it had been said,
your tone of voice told me
that our friendship was dead.
