Last of His Kind
Alone his ride where once the plains
Were of a people proud not vain
That worshiped land and fowl of air
Where Buffalo roamed and too the Bear
Feathers grace dark strands of hair
Today by stream the water bares
Reflection his where drink he does
As thirst drives thoughts of what once was
He scans as far his eyes can see
Wishing his dreams with destiny
Could be fulfilled today maybe
He'll find one more like him still free
Woman to love and bare his child
It's been some time no quite awhile
A people proud were stripped defiled
Of land and pride and worse no trial
Heritage now all he owns
Horse and weapons a heart now stone
Seeks a place to rest and pray
For better days to come his way
His friend the Eagle flies over head
Today he'll camp and make his bed
Upon the grass where peace becomes
One with him, last native son
