The Thought of You
It came today and brought a friend
A sign, a smile when then was when
A better day that made complete
A thought that swept me off my feet
Spoke it did but whispered more
It danced around the room and soared
My heart to heights where once it flew
With love it felt, sincere for you
Challenged my soul to come and play
If just for now, if just today
To bring a smile we hold unto
To warm the cold and loss of you
Breathed new life for moments lost
Pay we would at any cost
To feel again what made us whole
To live once more and to take hold
A fleeing kiss, a strong embrace
Simple these things that we still trace
Back to you who brought us peace
Unlike no other to say the least
Romantic moments that are no more
For past now present has closed the door
But every now and then again
You come to mind and with it spend
The best of you as was for me
The greatest love there too would be
For when this chapter came to end
It took what once was more than friend
