No one in my family had ever been in the military
So the day I entered boot camp I was weary
Long before signing up was doing push-ups
The hair has to go son you are all pups
Never had a man yelling at me and couldn't talk back
For it wasn't strength but self control I did lack
Dude yelling at me was going to make a man out of me
I already thought I was a man but a boy he did see
For every man there is just a boy inside
Far from home the days I might have cried
There were days alone I was weak not denied
Some how from a boy they made a man out of me
On Memorial day remember the heroes guarding the free
For some were boys just protecting serving duty
Like me they were just boys made into a man
Some will not come home but brave enough to make a stand
