Oppression rules in many lands
Misguided men power of man
Has made it so that war at times
Becomes whats drawn on sand fine line
Beyond borders, across waters
The soldier crosses at times is slaughtered
To bring freedom to foreign lands
To help others to take a stand
At times glory unsung will be downplayed
As many die on beachhead lay
For wars of past and present still
Rage with tyrants unfulfilled
The human race in some countries
Is looked down on and held bounty
To serve ones need not of a people
Where blood is spilled below church steeples
Nothing is sacred including life
Yet chin straps pulled today real tight
On some young face as did the old
This one brief write their story told
They came to aid and in their service
Some would return to a disservice
As others earned Medals of praise
Awards not seen by them in graves
Memorial Day has come again
Will you stand up and salute them
Those who wear and wore their ribbons
Those we lost where lives were given
Home fires will burn in some backyard
Across a country where stripes and stars
Are flown today where freedom rings
This day where tears pull at heart strings
This day is theirs please honor them
Stand up, salute these true Godsends
That brought you peace and still fight wars
For all mankind they opened doors
My payer today is if you see
A warrior, extend gladly
Your hand and thank for without them
This freedom yours would come to end
